North via the M1 Leave
the M1 Motorway at junction 29 for Chesterfield and take the A619
to Baslow; go through Baslow on the A623 to Calver. Continue straight
through the traffic lights to Stoney Middleton and stay on this
road for approximately three miles until you see a left turn to
Litton and Cressbrook. Go into Litton and left for Cressbrook (it
is signed); down this road for approximately one mile until you
see the CRESSBROOK sign; immediately after there is a sharp left
hand bend and the road forks; take the right fork down a steep hill
(20%) passing The Victorian Gardens on the right; about 200 yards
down on the right there is a fenced gate house and a driveway with
a sign 'Private drive no right of way'. Make an acute right turn
down the drive and Cressbrook Hall is visible below and to your
Left.
Traveling North
Via the A6
Approximately 1
1/2 miles out of Bakewell on the A6 in the direction of Buxton turn
right on the B6465 to Ashford-in-the-Water, then Monsal Head/Wardlow.
At the Monsal Head Hotel turn left to Cressbrook. Go down the steep
hill and along the valley. At the head of the valley see Cressbrook
Mill on the left; fork left after the Mill, keep left up the very
steep hill, passing a row of houses on the left. Approximately 300
yards up the hill on the left you will see on ornamental fence round
a Lodge house. Turn left along the drive which runs in front of
the Lodge and is signed 'Private no right of way'
Traveling South
Via Manchester
Take the A6(T) and
the Chapel-en-le-Frith bypass, then the A623 through Peak Forest.
After the Tideswell cross-roads (Anchor Pub on the left) continue
straight for 1/2 mile the turn right towards Litton and Cressbrook.
From Litton follow the M1 directions above. |
